If skin your skin in your biggest organ, how can you I feed it? I use the lens of “if I can put it in my mouth, I will put it on my skin” as the first of the determining factors in the ingredients I choose. Herbal infusions been around for thousands of years, and, as in any recipe that stay with cultures and gets pasted down, it’s because it works. Using solely isolated plant compounds has not always proven itself, just look real food vs supplements. No, unfortunately you can’t supplement your way out of a bad diet. Whole plant infusions are at the center of my skincare and layered with meticulously sourced ingredients, being mindful of how the ingredient is treated before it touches skin. As with our food choices, it takes constant work to peel back the layers and find out where products and ingredients come from and determine their impact to the source material and land, the planet and to people. Small batch producing allows us to be agile and able to change course when needed to maintain the integrity we stand behind. Skincare shouldn’t cost a fortune, so we use recipes with ingredients that can be made in kitchens everywhere, using super foods for the skin, like jojoba, sea buckthorn and calendula. The whole plant extraction methods requires a touch of organic cane alcohol, which gets gently heated out of the infusions. This ensures getting out different constituents that oils cannot extract and also makes the product much more shelf stable than the oil alone.
