About J-Art

When J-Art was eight years old they sold their first set of portraits: felt tip drawings on 130 mg cartridge paper for £5 to family members. Four decades on from the infantile sketches, J-Art has created: The United Petdom Collection. This tryptych of soft pastel drawings are dear to J-Art's heart, as it marked a milestone for their phobia of dogs - J-Art developed a new and positive relationship with man's best friend. The mother and child iconic image is an A2 soft pastel portrait. Made in 1994, it is currently hanging in J-Art's parents home. It is iconic as it depicts a mother with one child, 16 years before J-Art had their only child. The Japanese/Chinese characters are reminiscent of J-Art's migration to the Far East and also a teaching tool for her home-schooled daughter who is mixed Japanese.
