About Mary Howard-George Pottery

Based in the Pembrokeshire seaside village of Solva, Mary Howard-George creates a range of tableware thrown in porcelain Inspired by her love of the ocean, Mary set up her studio in 2008. The hallmark of her work is elegant simplicity. With black oxide trickling from rims, copper green brushed into crevices and sea coloured glazes, the work evokes rockpools or seascapes. While the transparent glaze over throwing rings brings seawater over sand ridges to mind. By throwing thinly, most of the work is light and translucent, giving the tealight holders a warm cosy glow. The pots are made to be used and enjoyed, all the tableware is oven, microwave and dishwasher safe. Read their story
