After becoming a mother, my desire to rid our home of toxic plastic materials became a top priority. It also sent me on a journey to find more natural alternatives for everyday household items. Now you would think that this is relatively easy given the overload of products in the market. The truth is it was quite the opposite. In the beginning, I created a list of stipulations. I knew that I wanted to focus on non-toxic/natural materials, and I knew that there were a few specific materials I absolutely did not want in my products. I also wanted to ensure that the products were recyclable. Sure, non-toxic is great, but if those products end up in landfills for decades, what’s the point? Another stipulation that proved to be one of the hardest was ensuring the products were sourced and made in the USA. That is really important to me and something I was not willing to budge on. I did have a few more additional requests. I wanted durable materials to survive life's trials and tribulations with children. (I know you hear me loud and clear, Mom). Glass cups were a no-go in my home, with two toddlers running around. And let me tell you, my toddlers are quicker than lighting!
