About Sleeping Dogs Studio

The hand-crafted items made by Don and Carolyn Madvig at Sleeping Dogs Studio in Bloomington, IN have been a unique option for one-of-a-kind art pieces throughout the United States since 1995. We pride ourselves on the fact that all of our art objects are made through a process that involves looking through hundreds of pieces of paper and fabric; along with a huge variety of embellishments from years of collecting. Our treasure trove includes fibers, found objects, handmade paper, recycled postage stamps, and vintage photographs, just to name a few. Our overall philosophy has always been to recycle and elevate everyday objects into lovely pieces of art that are: 1) reasonably priced, 2) beautiful to look at and 3) functional for every-day use. In addition, we support our namesake "best friends" by ensuring that a portion of our profits always goes to canine rescues across the US. We were particularly honored to have been juried into the Indiana Artisan program that recognizes the best in Hoosier Craftsmanship in 2004. Read their story
