Summer 1988. Salento. Uppers production workshop. This is how, when I was only 15 years old, my career began. Reluctant and impatient because of the choice imposed by my parents - while my peers are having fun - I start to breathe the smell of leather. Unexpectedly, I like that job more and more to the point of returning in the following summers, and even in winter. Duty becomes pleasure, work is PASSION. As soon as I'm of age, I open with my family a workshop for the production of uppers on behalf of other companies. Increasingly fascinated by the footwear industry, I attend the Arsutoria in Milan, the international school of design and modeling of shoes and bags where I perfect my technical knowledge. Having abandoned the fashion capital, I propose some of my models to customers, immediately enjoying great success. The WOMEN'S SHOES I design soon become the flagship of the company. Until the crisis comes and the consequent closure of the business. For a few years I continue to work as a fashion designer and pattern maker, collaborating with Italian and French companies with production sites in China, Tunisia and India where I go to follow the collections I create. International experiences enrich me as a person and as a designer. But the desire to create MADE IN ITALY lines, unique and handmade, artisanal is growing more and more. A convinced supporter of Italian footwear culture and determined to release the SALVATORE CAPUTO SHOES brand.
