About Pineapple Press & Design

Sven Olaf Nelson is a letterpress printer and designer based in Sylvania, Ohio. Pineapple Press & Design began as a passion for printing while a graphic design student at Ball State University. My print shop started small with a small table-top proof press and a few drawers of type in 2001. I named my shop Pineapple Press & Design in honor of my grandfather’s nickname - Pine. Since then, I've continued to save antique letterpress print equipment from scrap piles and rust, growing my collection to a dozen presses, hundreds of unique metal and wood types, and collecting old advertising printing plates all to use them while designing my unique cards and ephemera.Read their story
