About That Salsa Guy

I love salsa! I always have! Fresca, Picante, restaurant style, it didn’t matter. Like everyone else I’d tried all the store brands and nothing had enough flavor or heat for that matter. I started out years ago making fresh salsa. I’d make a big mixing bowl full and eat it until I couldn’t move! I started wanting salsa more often, so I’d make a batch and can it so I could have some anytime I wanted it. Eventually my kids started getting in on the salsa kick and there was never enough to last very long. I’d make bigger batches and we’d eat it quicker, along with giving a lot to co-workers, friends and family. Pretty soon I was making 3-4 gallons at a time and even that would disappear fairly quick. Fast forward to June 2015 and the Downtown Rock Springs Main Street Market. That year the Wyoming Cottage Food laws had changed allowing homemade items like salsa to be sold at the Farmer’s Markets. I started off trying to sell it just to see if anyone would like it as much as I did, and wasn’t expecting the response I got! Week after week I’d sell more than the week before and I would spend all my days off making more and more to have enough the following week. I became a fixture at Smith’s where I would buy the ingredients and that is where I was dubbed “That Salsa Guy” by an employee that had heard about some awesome homemade salsa being sold at the Main Street Market.Read their story
