About Alicia Arkwright

I create modern heirloom jewelry that resembles earthly textures and connects the wearer to the pulse of global ethics. While I received my BS in Environmental Studies from the University of Oregon, expression through creative means was always apart of my path. My environmental roots inform my process of sourcing materials and developing sustainable business practices. My creative process is lead by instinct. Rather than drawing a piece in two-dimensional form, I build up and sculpt wax into a three-dimensional form adding or subtracting elements as I go. Every piece is sculpted by hand allowing every curve and line to define its handmade details. Following the initial sculpting phase, pieces are cast in small batches in my home studio in Michigan. By working slowly by hand on one piece at a time, I am able to produce pieces intended for longevity while having minimal impact on the environment. In 2019, I became Fairmined certified and decided to commit to sourcing Fairmined metal whenever possible. All silver castings, findings, and wire are Fairmined while all silver chain is recycled. There is currently no fine silver Fairmined chain option available. All gold is Fairmined eco-gold. In an attempt to reduce my brand's carbon footprint I am donating 1% of my profits to The Bay Foundation, who is working on blue carbon-sequestering projects. They are actively rehabilitating ecosystems along the California coast by reforesting kelp beds.Read their story
