About Cone 6 Designs

I am dedicated to making quality handmade functional items from ceramic and enamel. As an artisan I most enjoy making sensual tactile and visual work that is reflected in items we wear and use daily. I work with ceramic and enamel and use some of the same processes in both media. I look to nature to inspire me through the shapes and forms I use. The name Cone 6 Designs refers to pyrometric cones which are small pieces of clay designed to regulate kiln temperature by melting at a specific temperature after a given amount of time. The buttons and jewelry found at this site are carefully hand crafted. I enjoy that other creators use my handmade items in their own work and I think of that as an artistic collaboration, whether it is in individual making a sweater, or a company dedicated to handmade garments. Additionally, Cone 6 Designs studio is powered by solar energy, and uses environmentally friendly products for shipping such as recycled or biodegradable materials. Most, if not all supplies used by Cone 6 Designs are purchased from small companies in the US. Read their story
