Mimi started making shower caps in 1989 from her apartment in San Francisco. The idea came to her because she did not want her BF to see her in the bathtub in the unattractive shower cap she got from the drugstore. She made up a few in pretty fabric prints and showed them to one of her friends. Her friend just happened to work at the I Magnin department store buying office. She got an appointment and her first order. The rest is history! Later she started making sleep masks at the request of those buyers. Since the New York ladies love her stuff eventually her black satin style Sleep Mask was worn on the first season of Sex and the City by the main character SJP.
