Welcome to MexiMexi! I'm Laura Lule, the founder. Our journey began in Mexico, where I was born and inspired by the warmth and beauty of handmade crafts. After a career in marketing and advertising, my passion for design, photography, and e-commerce fueled my desire to create something meaningful that could bridge cultures and bring a piece of Mexico to the world. Now in Austin, Texas, I balance family life with my creative pursuits, enjoying the vibrant energy of this city. In 2014, MexiMexi® was born from a collaboration with friends in Jalisco, Mexico, united by a mission to support artisan families. Our dedicated team, including Susy, Mirna, Risa, and Esperanza, works alongside master artisans who bring generations of knowledge to every piece. Together, we pour our passion into designing, weaving, packaging, and shipping each unique creation. Each MexiMexi bag is a labor of love, crafted using traditional techniques. Depending on complexity, a single bag can take from 6 hours to a week to complete. We use wooden frames and recycled multicolored plastic, emphasizing sustainability and authenticity. The final step involves meticulous stretching to ensure durability and a flawless finish. We are dedicated to bringing you authentic, one-of-a-kind bags that resonate with your heart.
