About Taste Gourmet Spice Co

Gourmet Spice Co was created by Mark Hughes in 2011. After more than 20 years in a corporate life, Mark decided to put his passion for food into action. After months of development, Mark made a range of products and went to a food festival. To his delight, he sold out and hasn’t looked back. In his own words… “I was working long hours and pushed for time, so had slipped into a rut of eating mostly the same things week after week. I wanted to be able to use a pinch or a drizzle of something with real, pure ingredients. I wanted something more versatile. So I made it. I had one rule: to create incredible products from the purest, cleanest ingredients. And I wanted to show people that spice doesn’t have to mean hot. Our approach to purity meant cutting down (or out) the salt and sugar seen in similar products and creating flavour combinations that aren’t typically seen, like fusing classically-Asian spices with Italian balsamic vinegar, or infusing peppercorns in bourbon just because, well, I wanted to see what would happen. This curiosity became our mantra and has led to us being a finalist for the regions Most Innovative Food and Drink Company plus a string of other awards. Today, we have a growing following of chefs, bloggers and home cooks using our products, we’re pushing the boundaries to create amazing flavour combinations with an incredible range.
