I first "slung mud" around the age of 6, and I loved the feel of it. It became a lifelong passion. My influences range from the curvaceous forms of Greco-Roman and Chinese vases; the unearthly environments of Antonio Gaudi's Architecture; the whimsy of Dr Seuss' settings; the sheer playfulness of George Ohr's pots. Traditional Chinese Flambe' glazes, and Fulpers' use of color. I have tried to reproduce these and other traditional effects but incorporate a brighter palate including reds; oranges and yellows. If I had my choice I would never make anything twice. I love new challenges and exploring new processes. As a result there is work inspired by past masters as well as museum reproductions, and many other styles. Throughout the year I introduce new products on a regular basis. Craftsmanship is an important part of my process. I endeavor to reproduce my work in the highest quality possible. The work is produced in a number of ways: wheel thrown; hand-built; or slip cast. The majority of the work is hand thrown on the potters' wheel. However for certain designs where it will increase the quality of the piece I will reproduce it using a mold. In those cases I make the original pieces and the molds themselves. All of the work is signed and dated. It is made of high quality stoneware or porcelain clay body, which is fired to vitrification to gain durability and function. I love what I do! It is my pleasure to produce these pieces.
