Welcome to Belen Berganza shop, ceramic artist based in Perth, Western Australia. I create unique, contemporary, sustainable handmade ceramics using porcelain and earthenware. I want to offer products that are not disposable, have a timelessness and are worthy of being passed on through the generations. Belen Berganza first shop was created in 1993 in a little town in the north coast of Spain (at that time its name was Bigbamboo). It was originally a gift shop with a "surfing character". The first porcelain pendants that I made where little surfboards and flowers. After a trip around the coast introducing the new line of pendants, they became so popular in the surf shops, that BB started to grow very fast. And BB moved overseas changing and evolving through the different stages as I did. Each design starts with a masterpiece that I hand carve with tools that I make to suit each design. Then a mould is produced, the clay is hand pressed, the edges softened and then fired. I studied ceramics for four years in Madrid, which enabled me to combine my love of art with the formal training necessary to develop high quality ceramics.
