About Barley Jean Biscuits and Bakery

Melissa Allen is the owner and baker behind Barley Jean Biscuits and Bakery. While living in Colorado during the pandemic, she and her husband were teaching high school full time and parenting two young children. To help with the stress, they started home-brewing and baking a LOT of dog treats. What started out as cute gifts for their best dog friends quickly became an online, pop-up, and farmers market favorite. People and dogs fell in love with the idea behind and fun, healthy treats named after their beloved first dog, Barley Jean, who passed away just after the pandemic hit. Flash forward two years and the couple moved their business, brand, kids, and dogs to North Carolina to really make a 'go' of building their love of all things craft beverages and tasty beer-grain dog (and human!) treats.
