ONE FAMILY, 2 DOMAINS It is by sea that the Kandler family arrived in Languedoc more than 30 years ago. While few people believe in the potential of this wine region, the Franco-German family decided to buy land lost in the Minervois hinterland in Roubia, between land and sea, between the medieval city of Carcassonne and the Canal du Midi. What will become Château Tourril takes its name from the “Pierre du Tourril”, a former Gallo-Roman signal tower that has overlooked this garrigue setting for 2000 years. The 2nd generation took over the reins in 2014 to expand the estate, convert it into certified organic agriculture, develop its reputation and export sales. Following the success of our wines, it is quite naturally that we searched and found our nugget in the Rhone Valley, very close to Avignon, the capital of the Côtes du Rhône and Châteauneuf du Pape, the first AOC in France. In 2017, the Domaine des Pentelines, an organic property of 24ha in AOP Côtes du Rhône Villages Gadagne, came to expand the family of the Kandler Vineyards.Read their story
