About Folkvangr

Clair McDonald is an artist, based in County Durham, UK. Her work was inspired by nature and Norse mythology from which her business gets its name 'Folkvangr' (the magical meadow of the goddess Freyja). Predominantly working with stained glass, Clair created Folkvangr to bring together her experience as a colour therapist and her love of art, in particular, the simplicity of folk art. Since then, more recently, that work now incorporates inspiration from the more elaborate knotwork of the Vikings, Picts and Celts which she demonstrates in her work with wood.Read their story
