About Novo Candles

Novo began in my home in 2020. Despite there being many candles on the market, I struggled to find blends that gave my home that familiar outdoorsy smell. I grew up in a small village in the Yorkshire peaks, surrounded by the countryside. My childhood was full of exploring - and smells! Therefore, capturing those scents is important to me when creating a homely atmosphere. As life goes, I met my partner and moved out of the countryside. I then realised that lots of people are not spending enough time in the outdoors. I soon learnt that many people e desire to spend time amongst nature, but have no means to do so or have no time due to such fast paced lives. After researching around, and having studied the effects of the environment on mental health as part of my psychology degree, I found many studies have shown that as we disconnect with nature, we in turn increase our stress levels. In fact, research shows that smelling the scents of nature, for just five minutes, can reduce your heart rate, stress levels and keep you in the moment. Coupling this with my own personal association between the outdoors and a calmer mind, I knew I had to create blends that reflect nature, and the ever calming countryside lifestyle. At Novo, we produce moments, not just products. We know that moments make memories and should be special. We want to gift people with that much needed time to light a candle, take in the scents of nature and mentally escape to the countryside. Read their story
