POTPURRI" is a brand started in 2012 by Hiroyuki Okami, who worked for about nine years at a pottery in Gifu, known for its Mino pottery. The name “POTPURRI,” which means “mixing” in Swedish, was derived from his desire to create original tableware by mixing his own designs with the traditional craftsmanship he has learned and observed. As the name suggests, the tableware combines the high quality of traditional Japanese pottery techniques with a warm, modern design reminiscent of Scandinavia, making it not only easy to use, but also a nice accent to add color to the dining table. Using high quality domestic clay such as red clay and black clay as well as porcelain, the company currently produces products that require a lot of manual work and one-of-a-kind pieces in Tokyo, and mass-produced items in Gifu Prefecture.Read their story
