After our son, now 18, was born in 2003, he was diagnosed with severe food allergies, eczema and asthma. After years of research, we were shocked to discover that many soaps, lotions, deodorant - even lip balms - contained almond, coconut, macadamia nuts and shea butter (a tree nut) ingredients. Many skincare brands contain coconut, shea butter and other major allergens, even if the product claimed to be hypoallergenic and chemical-free. We started formulating our own bath and body products and before long, all our friends and family were enjoying our soaps and asking for more.
