Flower City Soap Company was founded in 2014. I started making pure, natural products after learning more about what we eat and what we put on our skin. I had colon cancer in 2010 and after surgery and 6 months of chemo, I am gratefully NED (No Evidence of Disease) and just recently, in 2020, I had surgery for Uterine cancer but am very happy to not have to have chemo this time. Since 2008 I have lost 3 beautiful sisters to different cancers and have yet another younger sister, who is a breast cancer survivor. Learning more about the products we eat and use not only inspired me to begin my own skin care line, but I also became vegan in the process. I am most passionate about the beautiful, natural creations that I can make and provide for family and friends and how I can ensure that each and every product I make for their skin (and for our fur-babies!) would not contain animal products, formaldehyde or any of the other nasty ingredients found in most store brands. As a former graphic artist for over 20 years, I look after everything from researching and creating the recipes, to making all products by hand, to packaging, labelling and shipping. One of the things that makes me truly happy is having the opportunity to give back and to be able to help support local food banks, outreaches and animal sanctuaries. In the past few years, I have expanded my line to include natural soy wax candles with wood wicks, linen sprays, wax melts, bath bombs and more!
