Welcome to Fern & Thistle, thank you for visiting, I’m Jennie – founder, creator and maker – everything you see here has been designed here in my Manchester studios by me. I’ve spent the last few years building up my business and watching it thrive is a dream come true. I’m a bit of a perfectionist and have a constant urge to create so I knew I needed to work towards a career where I was able to make all of the creative decisions and fufil my creative urges! Renovating our family home helped to cement this decision – I felt frustrated with the run of the mill shelving available so took it upon myself to create my own sideboards shelves and mantels. There evolved what you now see in all of my work, the unique Fern & Thistle finish! Every one of my creations is handmade using laser design before being sanded and waxed. I use re-claimed scaffolding wood and the joy of creating something new from something old remains as exciting to me now six years on as it did when I first created the windowsills in our family home.
