About Goye - Ceramic Artist

As an artist, I enjoy breaking down the dichotomy between sculptural and functional ceramics. Inspired by fairy tales, my work is both playful and spontaneous. Yet underneath their delicate, naïve exteriors, my pieces convey deeper, unsettling levels of meaning, constructing fantastical and absurd narratives. In addition, the attribution of human and animal elements to my work lends it an endearing quality. I like to think of my pieces coming to life and creating their own stories in the homes where they are proudly displayed. Stéphanie Goyer-Morin is a Montreal-based ceramic artist born in Abitibi and raised in L’Assomption, Quebec. After completing a college diploma (DEC) in liberal arts, she went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in visual and media arts from UQAM, where she was first introduced to ceramics. Her love affair with the medium led her to enroll in a professional training program at Centre de Céramique Bonsecours, which she completed in 2014. Since then, she has become a certified professional artisan. Stéphanie now works on both functional and sculptural pieces in her studio in Montreal’s Rosemont neighbourhood. Read their story
