In the heart of parenthood, where joy intertwines with challenges, Small Talk for Parents emerges as a beacon of connection. Our journey begins with a simple truth: the most beautiful gift we can give our children is a strong parental bond. We believe that communication is the key to a harmonious relationship, laying the foundation for a 'baby-proof' connection. How did it start? In February 2018, a positive pregnancy test changed everything. Conversations with my partner Gerrit and swirling thoughts centered on impending parenthood. Lacking a suitable tool, I crafted a makeshift conversation starter for ourselves to talk about this huge life change: becoming parents. Despite its simplicity, it sparked fantastic intimate dialogues. We felt strength and confidence to become parents. In February 2020, during a sabbatical from my job as a change manager, I envisioned turning this creation into a company. With meticulous planning and investment, Huisje Boompje Gesprekje was launched by 2020's end in the Netherlands. Its success led to demands for international versions, resulting in the English version Small Talk for Parents and the German version Eltern Kickoff.
