As a hairdresser that was happily scratching her creative itch via taking people to the refreshed, renewed, excited version of themselves that afternoon at the salon can do for all of us, I was enjoying my journey through life as a single mom with my two young children, Autumn 9, and Owen 6. Life was fulfilling and rewarding, and it gave a much appreciated level of freedom that a single mom craves. I had been creatively tinkering making jewelry for myself since I was a child beginning with necklaces made of wildflowers at my grandparent's farm. Then one afternoon a client offered and offered and offered to by personal pieces that I made and was wearing for my own enjoyment. After repeated refusals I finally considered her request, and Summer Renee had it's first unintended, and unceremonious sale. As the realization of what just happened replayed in my head, thoughts of more time with my children grew and grew. So with a bit of reflection and a moment of courage, I leapt. I leapt for more time with my children. They are only little once, and I wanted all of the time that I could hustle for.
