THE CASTLE - Birthplace of the Republic of Austria. The history of the castle dates back to the 14th century, but it is marked by the fateful days in April 1945. On behalf of Stalin, Dr. Karl Renner developed the basic structures of the Second Republic in twelve busy days at Schloss Eichbüchl. At the same time, he prepared the formation of a provisional government, as its Chancellor he finally proclaimed Austria's Declaration of Independence on April 27, 1945, in Vienna. Thus, Schloss Eichbüchl found its indelible place in the history books as the birthplace of the Second Republic. Where greatness is born! Young love and old passion. It was the much-praised love at first sight when castle owner Walter Burghart acquired the estate of Schloss Eichbüchl in 2011. His love was and still is not only for the venerable castle but also for the surrounding vineyards. With the founding of the Schloss Eichbüchl winery, a long-held dream came true. Today, grapes of selected varieties ripen here on almost 2 hectares, from which, with much knowledge and even more finesse, great wines are created that wonderfully harmonize all the advantages of the terroir.Read their story
