We’re Ben & Kevin—a couple of college friends who took on the corporate skincare industry after Mother Nature did us dirty. Kevin was playing football at Ohio State when eczema flared up and messed with his game. Meanwhile, Ben was plagued by pimples, courtesy of his Lebanese heritage (and his diet of Doritos and pizza). After some hopeless Google searches and countless lectures from our girlfriends about 17-step routines, we couldn’t help but wonder: Does men’s skincare really need to be this complicated and expensive? Spoiler: It doesn’t. We spoke with board-certified dermatologists and cosmetic chemists, and they confirmed our suspicions. Skincare brands love pushing products guys don’t need just to fatten their wallets. Not to mention, most of those products aren’t designed for men’s unique skin needs. Instead of waiting for a solution, we launched PrettyBoy and developed skincare essentials based on survey data from men on what they actually wanted. The result? A GQ grooming award, the 1st men’s skincare brand EVER to be recognized with the National Eczema Association’s Seal of Acceptance, and most importantly, 20,000+ guys who are confident in their skin.
