About Hopscotch Coffee

Before they knew each other, Jane Kupersmith and Jeff Grant both wanted to elevate the coffee scene in Indiana. Jane started roasting coffee the way many roasters do—in her spare time and on her front porch. Small bags of beans marked “Hopscotch” began to make their way to the front porches of friends and family. Jeff had recently left barista life to help start a family business. He knew that he wanted to return to coffee and that to do so would require striking out on his own terms. But it wasn’t process of elimination that led the two to pair up, it was realizing that in combining their roasting and front-of-house experience, they could bring the highest quality products and service to Blooming. Since their opening in 2014, Hopscotch has grown to 2 storefronts and a roasting facility as well as providing coffee to other forward-thinking local cafes and businesses. OUR COFFEE At Hopscotch, we source Fair Trade certified or direct trade coffees because it helps ensure better working and living conditions for farmers, promote gender equality in a male-dominated field, and gets the most money we can into the hands of farmers who provide us with quality greens. Since we invest in great greens, we focus our roasting energy on getting out of their way. Our small-batch, fluid-bed roaster allows us fine control over roast profiles in addition to yielding a squeaky clean cup.Read their story
