Ohema Ohene pronouced ‘Oh-he-/ma:/ Oh-he-/ni:/’ is a British fashion brand, specialising in African inspired fashion, created in 2009 by British born designer Abenaa Pokuaa. Founded in London, the name meaning Queen & King in the Ghanaian language of Twi was in reference of her Ghanaian heritage and plans to create a brand for both Men and Women. After successfully completing a degree in Fashion design technology surface Textiles at London College of fashion; Abenaa then went on to work in the industry developing her technical and commercial understanding. On returning from the Hong Kong where she worked as a designer and from a short trip to Ghana, Abenaa finalised the concept of the brand. Ohema Ohene produces exciting, high quality stylish seasonal African inspired fashion for Men and Women. Ohema Ohene blends quintessentially British styling with West African textiles, which is representative of London’s multicultural population. OUR MISSION To push the boundaries of African inspired fashion and paying homage to the beauty of Africa. A taste of colours, influences, prints and concepts which are prestigious to Africa with a focus on Ghana. Ohema Ohene would like to share with you a touch of Africa which is positive, sophisticated and simply out of this world! Ohema Ohene draws many of its influences from Ghana and it was our long term vision, to produce our products in Africa. In April 2013 this vision materialised with the launch of our own production base in Accra.
