The weather may be heating up, but your Faire trend editors are looking ahead to cooler days. The autumn selling season is upon us, and this month, we’re keeping an eye on what consumers are doing to make their houses feel like homes (and their homes feel like sanctuaries) – whether they’re gathering with friends, settling in for a meditative art project or decorating for a new season.

Powered by Faire’s unique data insights, we have everything you need as you begin your sales discovery from top searches to the viral trends that drive them, paired with product recommendations for your shelves.

Here’s what’s new this quarter in Home & Gift.

Book clubs for when it’s time to gather

The Faire Forecast recently unveiled a rising trend for gathering, so it’s no wonder that searches for “book club” on Faire are up 293% year on year as of May 2025. Readers are reclaiming their “bookish” identity, and searches for that term on Faire have steadily climbed 70% since July 2024. “Sales of physical books are seeing a bit of a resurgence, almost as an antidote to an increasingly digital world”, writes Forbes. What’s more, books offer a means of escapism from the challenges of everyday life.

Consider the popularity of Booktok and the rise of “romantasy” novels: Everyone wants to connect over disconnecting from the real world. And how can they do that? Through a book club. And with all of the “big five” publishers available on Faire, you can make sure your shelves are always stocked with the next bestseller.

Whether you’re a bookseller, a gift shop, a stationer, a home goods shop or anything in between, here are some book club accessories for your Booktok-loving shoppers.

  • Blind date with a book: A clever matchmaking book package that helps your shoppers find their next favourite read. Each charming little set comes with stickers, a piece of book paper with the genre and a book abstract to get the reader hooked.
  • Bookish keychains: For those who are obsessed with “enemies to lovers” and “slow burn” romances – and want to showcase their passion with pride.
  • Book club candle: Perfect for lighting during book club with friends. With a 60- to 80-hour burn time, it should last a whole series.
  • Hot girl book club bookmark: A perfect giveaway for book club attendees.
  • Book club kit: For shoppers who want to start a book club but aren’t sure how it works, this little kit has everything they need, from conversation prompt cards to an hourglass timer and literary-inspired cocktail recipes.

Watercolours for moments of solitude

As a simple visual arts medium, watercolour can be fun and therapeutic for artists of all ages and skill levels. Consumers are looking to unplug and spend more time device-free, and many are picking up this hobby and exploring their creative sides. So much so that the watercolour market industry is expected to grow from $2.83 billion in 2023 to $4.5 billion by 2032, according to Market Research Future. And on Faire, searches for “watercolour” (and “water colour”) are up 35% quarter over quarter as of July. (There’s been a similar spike on Pinterest as well.)

Helping consumers foster their creative passions isn’t difficult, especially since watercolour accessories are simple and can have a small (but meaningful) impact on your shelves. Consider these pastel colour brushes that are both watercolour brushes and coloured pencils in one or this beautiful set of watercolours that shoppers can just pop in their purse for creating any time, anywhere. And then there are the workbooks, which are pretty enough to be left out on coffee tables as functional decor – offering explorations of fruits, scenic views and animals.

Coastal aesthetics

You heard it here first: You no longer have to have a beach house to decorate your home like it’s just paces from the sound of the waves. In fact, filling your living spaces with coastal-inspired decor promotes a sense of relaxation, tranquillity and a connection to nature, even if you’re living in the big city. “With the rise of soft living, quiet luxury and trending social media aesthetics – like the aspirational Nancy Meyers look – classic coastal colours have been given a breath of fresh air”, writes The Spruce. So if your shoppers are lusting after “Coastal Grandma” looks, this trend is decidedly for them. (If they are also in their “Sardine Girl Summer“, they’ll probably like it too.)

On Faire, searches for “coastal” are up 39% since January, searches for “oyster” are up 19% over the same time, and searches for “shell” are up 53% year on year for June. These sorts of nautical details, like oysters and shells, are right in line with Home & Gardens’ recommendations for how to get that coastal feel at home: “Drawing upon colours of the sea and shore, organic earthy textures, and waterside shapes and motifs, you can mirror the serenity of the beach”.

For something small and useful for a bar cart, try this oyster-shaped bottle opener, or bring a little bit of the sea to your living room table or fireplace mantle with this oyster catchall (or this rather elegant one). Lean into Cape Cod colourways with this cosy throw, a rattan tray over your ottoman and a Good Salt candle to complete the scene.

It’s that time of year again when consumers are starting to look forward to autumn. Hard to believe, right? But here’s the proof from last year: Searches for autumn decor jumped 626% from June to July in 2024. While we’ll be back with a full Halloween report, we have a few predictions to help you stock your shelves for autumn. The whisper of pumpkin spice lattes is upon us, with searches for “pumpkin” spiking over the summer and peaking in August. Another popular trend: “sunflowers“, a search that usually peaks in July.

While it may be hard to think warm and cosy in the depths of the summer heat, here are a few of our editors’ picks for autumn decorating:

  • Wooden mushroom lamps: These charming lights offer the perfect dimmable brightness for snowy nights in, reading and watching your favourite shows. Talk about mood lighting.
  • Stonewash terracotta pillows: Amp up armchairs with a few extra throw pillows, especially ones like these textured beauties in an autumnal terracotta.
  • Corduroy throw blanket: When it comes to autumn, the more blankets the merrier. Especially when they’re plush and large enough to wrap around two people.
  • Pumpkin wax melts: Forgo candles and air fresheners for these cheeky and giftable autumn-inspired wax melts. (Just be sure no one accidentally eats them!)
  • Corn pillar candles: We can’t think of anything more on-theme for an autumn dinner. Drop a few on a long table, and they’ll be the talk of the meal.

Happy shopping!
