Description

Bottarga is made from salted and dried mullet roe and is a must in Mediterranean cuisine. It is a natural product, a superfood, without additives or coloring. It is a source of calcium, Vitamin A, D and B, magnesium, selenium, phosphorus, iodine, fluorine, zinc, and Omega-3. It has colors ranging from gold to amber, depending on aging, with a firm but gentle salty flavor. Bottarga can be eaten in a variety of ways. Serve it as an aperitif grated on top of lightly buttered toast or cut into thin slices. Excellent consistency for slicing, shaving, or grating. Also, try placing slices of bottarga on top of pasta, risotto, salads, vegetables, and bruschetta or even pizza, just like slice of truffles. Grated Bottarga can also be used as a seasoning in sauces and dips or added to soups and stews for extra flavor.
