In the summer when vegetables were abundant in Grandpa's vegetable garden, and nothing was thrown away, it was a tradition in our house to prepare the gardener with zucchini, cauliflower, carrots, celery, onions and everything that the land offered us. So we had vegetables all winter stored in the jar. The gardener is perfect to offer as an appetizer to accompany a nice plate of cold cuts and cheeses or as a side dish for meat dishes. Also, simply, on toasted bread and a good glass of wine!
