Matches is a riso print from our series Extra Ordinary, illustrations of day to day objects. Extra Ordinary is a tribute to everyday items. It celebrates the objects we use almost daily without thinking about the often wonderful design or greater concept behind them. The designs are often deceptively simple and we wanted to amplify that by using only 2 colours (red and blue and the mix of these) for the whole series. Risography is a technique where you use a duplicating machine to print colours separately, layer by layer. The result is somewhat reminiscent of screen printing. Risography uses semi-transparent inks based on vegetable oil (soy or rice). Due to the technology, each print is slightly different, which makes each riso print unique.
