When I first began offering wool cushions years ago, we had to make do with the equipment we had, which resulted in a softer, pillow-shaped cushion rather than the flat, firm pad I had envisioned. This new pad is exactly what I had in mind from the start. Made in the USA from 100% wool, it’s steam-pressed for a smooth, firm (but not too firm) surface that holds its shape beautifully. The straight edges make it easy to felt right up to the sides — something I always wished for with the older style — and it resists the lumps, dips, and soft spots that can develop over time. Wool pads are not only biodegradable and eco-friendly, but they’re also much nicer to use than foam. Wool provides a stable surface with just the right amount of give, making felting smoother and easier on your needles and wrists.
