Wayang Golek theater is a traditional Sundanese puppet art from Western Java. This elaborate vintage Wayang Golek rod puppet embodies the character of Duryodhana, a primary antagonist from the Hindu epic the Mahabharata. He is a haughty character which is reflected in his blue painted face, large gold belly and straightforward gaze with bulging red eyes all represent strength. His ornate costume is embellished with glass beads and sequins. Crafted in the 1960's, the intricate hand carved features and vibrant hand-painted accents and make this puppet a unique find.
