This piece was inspired by Maria Sibylla Merian, a German born naturalist and scientific illustrator. Inspired by one of her botanical illustrations, this cut paper piece features carefully cut leaves, delicate details, textured lemons, and the life span of a caterpillar-turned-butterfly. The hope was for this piece to feel as if it is teeming with life and vigour. DETAILS Printed on heavy cotton paper with an archival, fine art, giclee printer. This print is based on an original made of hand-cut, hand-made japanese washi paper. Each piece is signed on the back. To reduce waste, each print is made to order.
