Juvenile Emperor Angelfish, Pomacanthus imperator This painting was one of my biggest challenges of all time. Painting the saturated black next to the vivid turquoise was not an easy task with watercolors. The fact that this creature exists in the wild just blows my mind, it is so beautiful! The juvenile transforms from this coloration & pattern to the striped pattern of the adults and this beauty is very ephemeral in the wild. In the painting the vibrant pattern is preserved.
