Every ear and piercing is different. Fit depends on genetics (size and shape of ear lobe) and not age. Some people have tiny earlobes, some have larger thicker earlobes. When in doubt go with the 10mm size. 8mm are best for cartilage or second (+) piercings. Or if you want space between your ear and the hoop, go with the 12mm size.
