In collaboration with world renowned artist Carlos Luna, the Empingated Bomber Jacket brings to life the striking themes of mortality, life, and death from Luna’s work Empingated. The embroidered artwork depicts an anthropomorphic man caught in the jungle of life experiences, wrestling with the inevitable truth of his own mortality. As death reaches out to him with open arms, the man hides a knife behind his back, hoping to slay death and prolong his life. The design contrasts the cycles of life and death through the Spanish phrases “La Vida” (Life) and “La Muerte” (Death). Luna’s piece adds a winking commentary with the Cuban explicative “Pinga”, suggesting that the entire dynamic is “F*cked.
