Meng Ku is a town in Shuangjiang County, in the Lincang Prefecture, Yunnan. It is also the name of a famous tea tree variety, originating from the main tea region of Lincang. Although Shuangjiang is little known, Mengku is renowned among tea enthusiasts for its precious ancient tea trees. Mengku tea is a puer produced from the young leaves of the Dayeh tea tree, an endemic variety of Yunnan. Processed using traditional methods, these leaves yield a puerh highly appreciated by connoisseurs. The Dayeh tea tree of Shuangjiang Mengku is a nationally excellent tea variety. It is a seed-reproducible variety, with a genetic purity reaching 80% - a rarity in China.
