Manufactured in China, these moxas are mainly composed of charcoal and mugwort mixed with essential plants from the Chinese pharmacopoeia such as Qiang huo (Rhizoma seu Radix notopterygium) or Asarum (Asarum hetertropoides). Compressed into rigid sticks, they are easy to use and emit no smoke. Their slow combustion allows for the stimulation of acupuncture points according to the principles of traditional Chinese medicine.
