Velociraptor Velociraptor Mongoliensis An iconic dinosaur of the Late Cretaceous period–74 to 70 million years ago–the Velociraptor was found in Mongolia. Sized somewhere between a turkey and a wolf, these 3-toed runners were known for their enormous claw on each foot. However, because of the popularity of the Jurassic Park movies, they have been dramatically misrepresented as being much larger than they were. Most Velociraptors would've been up to 6ft long and weighed around 100 pounds, making them agile predators that most likely hunted smaller herbivores.
