Handcrafted with the most breathtaking solid Claro Walnut from Oregon State, it is a beautiful addition to your kitchen decor both in a contemporary or more rustic kitchen. The process of making these boards is long and complex, with many hours of work going into each one. The board is first selected from local maple slabs which have to be kiln dried and then seasoned so that the wood can stabilize. Once a piece is selected, any cracks or gaps are filled with black epoxy to seal the wood and prevent food from getting into any crevasses. At this point the board is hand planed and sanded to a smooth finish. A food safe tung oil/beeswax topcoat rubbed and buffed to a soft sheen. Just wipe with a damp cloth after use and dry, do not soak in water or use dishwasher to clean.
