About Sisu Coffee

Finnish brothers, Ross and Ryan Jirgl, are former athletes and coffee lovers who have found a way to contribute to the charity that is most dear to them, Special Olympics. Combining their love of Specialty Grade Coffee, their deep rooted Finnish Sisu (Translation: Extraordinary determination in the face of extreme adversity), and working tirelessly to ensure the Special Olympic Games will always be there for the athletes who wish to compete. The brothers source the specialty grade coffee beans personally from farms around the world. They ensure the beans are sustainably sourced from small lot, organic and fair trade certified farms that takes care of both the farms and the farmers who grow them. Specialty grade coffee is grown at high altitude to ensure a slow growing season, allowing for the full flavor to develop in the bean. The beans are hand harvested, hand sorted and hand roasted. This tedious process creates a premium quality and that is what separates Sisu Coffee from the rest. They have chosen the more difficult and adverse route to bringing Specialty grade coffee to their consumers because it’s the right thing to do and as they say, “we want to put the best possible beans in the bag. We choose the more difficult right, than the easier wrong. And you can taste the difference in the cup.”
