About Blue Thistle Fibers

For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved knitting. Like most knitters, the first stitch I learned from my grandmother was to knit & pearl. Over the years, as I would deploy out on months-long patrols during my military service, I used my free time to add more and more stitches. I finished my first sweater while patrolling in the Arctic Circle, which was really useful! Our lives are filled with chapters. I bet you can relate. This is the chapter where I build a business post-military and infuse it with all things home and history. This is the part where I dispel the myths that Appalachia is a textile-poor region and shine a light on the amazing women that came before me: the knitters, the weavers and the quilters, the makers and the do-ers who did much with little, whose very grit and gumption I feel as a maker and entrepreneur here in West Virginia.
