About Castel di Salve

Castel di Salve is one of the historic wineries of Puglia, founded in 1885 in Depressa by Antonio Winspeare, Duke of Salve, for the production of fine table wines and aged bottled wines from grapes grown on the properties of Salve, Supersano, and Depressa. At the time, it was the first facility for the aging and bottling of wine in Salento. The first Bordeaux winemaker, Simon Murat, already elevated the quality of the wine produced here to be recognized in competitions and exhibitions in London (1888), Chicago (1894), Asti (1898), Paris, and Naples (1900). Strong and proud of the family tradition, the 4th and 5th generations of the Winspeare family continue to work the same land today, to produce wines that are both characterful and clean and elegant.Read their story
