About Amo Frescobol - In Nox Home

I first discovered Frescobol on holiday in Portugal circa 2013 with no idea how popular the sport was. With the cheap bat and ball I bought on the beach ultimately broken and abandoned on holiday, when I returned home I sought to find a more sustainable alternative. What I found were beautifully handmade Frescobol bats from brands with roots in Brazil, using scrap wood from furniture making. While I have huge amounts of respect for these brands re-purposing wood and not adding to supply demands that damage our environment, ultimately I think we can do better by using wood from sustainable sources. My Frescobol bats blend the traditional shapes and wood with contemporary designs. I only use sustainable beech wood from European renewable sources and UK lumber mills. Each item is beautifully finished to a premium standard by hand with the process from wood to product taking several days. Even in the same batch the differences in the wood and the slight imperfections by hand combine to create a truly unique item. Our Frescobol balls are supplied by the last remaining squash ball supplier in the UK while our bags are handmade by another small business in the midlands.
