Real Italian food is two things: its hand-crafted and its local. My husband, Raffaele, taught me that. He tells me stories about growing up in Italy, watching his nonna make "sugo al pomodoro" with the tomatoes and basil grown in their garden – and then how his whole family would get together to process the sauce in empty Peroni bottles! When we were living in Los Angeles, he built a coop in my parent’s backyard, somehow convincing them to get chickens so we could make real pasta – how he managed to do that, I will never know! Over the years, Raffaele taught me to respect the beauty and the intimate connection that comes from creating hand-crafted artisanal foods. So, after a while, it became clear to me that we needed to share that love and connection with others, and I knew we would call it “Mano Bella” – Beautiful Hand. When Raffaele and I first started dating he would take me by the hand saying, “Dammi la mano bella” – Give me your beautiful hand. Mano Bella speaks to the connection we have to food and to the artisans who make it, and the beautiful ways in which we find that connection. By working hand-in-hand with local farmers and other artisan producers to source our ingredients, Mano Bella Artisan Foods brings this beauty and this connection - one that is central not just to Italian cuisine but to all cuisines - to your table.
