About red i jewelry

I’m Susan – owner and sole designer of red i jewelry. I grew up watching my father at his basement jewelers bench carving waxes, setting stones; creating beautiful works of art with his bare hands! He inspired me to pursue a life that involved being a part of the art world in any way possible. After graduating with a BFA in Sculpture in 1985, I started my career at an art gallery on the east side of Cleveland. I loved my job, which included traveling to New York, Los Angeles, and Boston to buy art, ceramics, home goods, and artist-made jewelry. I formed long-lasting relationships with fabulous designers whose work inspired me create and sell my own line of jewelry. The name 'red i jewelry' was born out of working late nights on my jewelry while still working full time at the gallery. In 2004, I made the decision to concentrate solely on red i, and have never looked back! My vintage-inspired hoop and ‘wave’ earrings make up a fraction of my full line of jewelry, but are by far my hottest sellers for retailers. I form recycled sterling silver and yellow brass wires into the desired shapes, then hammer the wire flat to create a look that is edgy and hand-made. I work out of my home studio in Cleveland, Ohio and live with my nutty Chihuahua, Paloma. Read their story
